On this one I maybe able to help you.

Go to your nearest Pick&Pay, go to the isle where they sell plastic items and look for that typical square white plastic water bottle. Drill a hole in the cap to accommodate the plastic tubing and ......voila .... you have a windscreen water bottle at 1% of the price from MB!:-o:D:p

Good luck,

Hate the location of that water bottle! Easy for a stone to crack it. My 461 had the same issue.

I had mine plastic "welded" by an engineering shop twice, I see it is leaking again. They get a beating by stones, next time I will fit a stone guard.

I fix mine also quite regularly but I use Q-bond after I file a clean vee through the crack. I am now thinking about using some type of adhesive from the inside - like allowing paint to dry in the tin and causing a liner in there. Bostik or stone chip or bitumen or.......

Has anyone done something to protect this bottle? I took the plunge and got a new one but to scared to install it!!!

Was thinking in the line of painting it with something that will / might absorb the shock from stones?

Even considered using the bubble wrap it came in.........

Try using Flash Harry roof bandage perhaps. Trim it and mold it to shape with a heat gun.

Someone IIRC used the wheel arch moldings from a 463 and fitted them.
To be honest I don't think too many of the bottles are broken from stones but rather ond age and brittle nipples the pipes go on and tabs breakig off.
My 2c.
