Leonard i will definitely be in for two white striped ones for my 290 please - do i need to get the two and three stripe configuration as per Alan's recommendation? My double camping batteries are also permanently sitting on RHS?
I will ask

Will do. Andrew I had a look, your cabrio might be the one case borderline between yellow 996547 which is softer and lower little load than amber 996548 which is a bit of medium duty. Seems both are avail. If you will offroad with no load more I'd go for yellow. If carrying a large cooler box with beers I'd go amber.

Leonard, do you have a price for the fronts?
Front not sure what your G came with. Different wheelbase and engine had different springs. Sachs catalogue shows yellow, brown and yellow/orange front only. Getting price for brown for someone.

and just to confuse us a little more, these are all sachs rear coils listed for my vehicle;

part#996548 = length 447
part#996918 = length 430 Reinforced Version
part#996547 = length 425
part#996918 = length 430

all different diameters as well.

Leonard, I hope i dont mess with you or any deadline - i have asked MB for my original spring colour for the cab (which is my new project). It handled beautifully before i stripped it, and I am almost 100% sure they were yellows and not the amber I asked for in there.

I hope to confirm shortly.

Not at all, most shortys came with green or yellow. I think the cabrios mostly green, but I've found green pretty soft for those heavy cooler boxes. I have requested prices for both yellow and amber.

I have a 280GE LWB VIN:46022327036674, I have fitted whites to the front of this one, and need rears.
My other G is a 230G but now have the M103 3.0L straight 6 in it so I assume that the white fronts will be ok fit it as well
Both G's need rear coils (currently have coils from Springrite), so now I assume that white coils should be ok to suit the white fronts

I would thus need 2 pairs of white rears and 1 pair of white fronts

Unfortunately sachs do not supply white front. Dealer does at significant price jump. The yellow/orange is the stiffest front from sachs. I dont want to guess, tricky when guessing, everybody has their own preference in stability vs articulation/comfort. As example I bought springs from a bluetec owner saying they were too stiff, and he loved the softest springs available front and back (green).

MB still mostly supply green springs as it is the first result they get when searching if you dont specify a part number. It doesnt mean that your G came out with them standard.

The stripes are MBs way of balancing a pair of springs more specifically. Within the white spring acceptable range of response, one stripe is the “softest”, three stripe is the hardest. Bearing in mind that white springs are classified as heavy duty, all stripes.

I’m not sure you can buy a mismatched pair.

Thanks for the info,
Let me do it this way then,

I need 1 x pair of white rears, 1 x pair of Green rears and 1 x pair of Green fronts fronts. I'll cover both options that way.

Andrew whats the VIN or is the vehicle no longer original. May be able to look it up . Somethings teh EPC gives multiple results.
Early RSA models usually had a "harder spring option" ex factory

Tks Pete. This one is original - 460 310 270 10688. I believe the epc says green but i know it worked very well with yellow. (In fact these yellows are now in the chicken coupe.)

Leonard, i will go with AMBER thanks. I will use them in the chicken coupe and swap out the new yellows i have in there back to the cab.

Thanks for the feedback, I don't want too stiff springs, maybe one below the white?
So 1 pair of White REAR and a pair of FRONT and REAR that's softer than the whites.
What colour would that one be?
