Hi all,

Looking for a windscreen fot my W460 300 GD and it is not being easy.

The only price I got was 3630,00 ZAR.

From Europe I got a price of 134€ (approx. 1490,00 ZAR) but transport will be a problem.

Need some help finding a cheaper solution in SA preferably in Mpumalanga region.

Regards.

They are trying to smoke your ham! It is a flat glass panel and can be cut to fit. I've replaced two windscreens in the last 4 years and both cost me R450.00 each.

Henry is right - about R450 but it is not tinted.

All you need is a template.

The merc one with tint and dark area behind rearview mirror was about R1k2 last time I fitted one.

In my case pg glass cut one themselves but charged insurance for OEM one.....out of principle I insisted they fit the OEM part.

What PG knows is that insurance pays. This translates to everybody paying more and efficiency would be a bit of an afterthought. (good on you getting what they paid for!)

You can tint the top section with film, freely available as far as I know.

For what I know there are 3 types of glass, clear, heat absorbent and heat reflector.

Is this correct?

Can someone help with the part numbers for the heat reflector?

With all the road construction at present, I had to replace two windscreens recently at R 8 937.53 plus vat and fitment, and my insurance covered only once!

I am thinking of a way to protect my windscreen on the long haul...maybe a perspex shield, wire mesh used on military & police vehicles, etc. Any ideas?

PS. Too much electronics in the windscreens of the latest models, prevent the use of a flat piece of glass for replacement!
