Hi all,
Can anyone give me more accurate info regarding the input seal on the rear axle of my '92 463.
Mine was leaking and I removed them today. Yes, them. On removal I suddenly had two seals with a metal surround.
Looking at some websites it seems they have been replace and one of them could even be obsolete now.
I'm not sure and will go to MB tomorrow, but am always skeptical when asking there before knowing what I need/want.
In the draing below part No's 185 and 195.

My rear axle is 741506 20 K045439

Its A0179975547 for the rear - parts guy must look up look up #185 ( 195 does not exist for the G anymore ) The front is A0169975347. You need to get a new pinion nut as well

Thanks Peter,
I'm still a little confused:

185 A 007 997 64 47 SEAL RING Replaced by: A 008 997 81 47 - ----> 185 A 008 997 81 47 SEAL RING Replaced by: A 017 997 55 47 - -----> 185 A 016 997 58 47 SEAL RING Replaced by: A 017 997 55 47
AND
185 A 008 997 36 47 SEAL RING Replaced by: A 016 997 58 47 -
185 A 007 997 67 47 SEAL RING Replaced by: A 017 997 55 47 - Same a s first ie A 017 997 55 47 replaces

So it seems there are two types/versions for the rear axle.

185 A 017 997 55 47 SEAL RING PINION,OUTSIDE 001
185 A 017 997 44 47 SEAL RING PINION,OUTSIDE 001

You also mention a new nut and on the WA group say its now a 12pint 30M which I assume is supposed to me 3M? ie with some sort of Nylock?
Mine has a 12 point nut with a rind that gets knocked into the input shaft to prevent it from loosening.

If you already have the 12 point nut then you on the latest Technology . The EPC is extremely confusing and with regards to axle parts in general as they try to cater for several models in one picture ( including front and rear getting muddled up ) and the EPC does not actually decode whats valid for the VIN number- you have to read all the fine print . Just order the seal number I gave you and confirm with sales guy that its right.
