Hi all.

Time to replace the non-existant boots on my moggies' steering links.

The castle nut came off easily enough, but now I need to get the ball joint out. My bearing pullers are defibitely not up to the job and the ball joint separators (aka pitman puller) sold by Midas, Autozone and the likes are too small to fit over the mog sized ball joint :-(

Can anyone recommend a place where I can get a mog sized ball joint separator?

There is a senthetic injection solution. Used it on my 411. Guy came to my house to do it. Fixed any and all play. And still solid

Got to find the detail. Lost in translation :)))

Paul but then is if all else fails, a 14 lbs hammer, an OMGosh, breakfast with the boss, and an overdraft that she understands and matches her wardrobe needs!

There's nothing wrong with the ball joint - I just need to replace the rubber boot.

I have applied a hammer with the amount of force I feel comfortable with, but the thing didn't move... Also applied some heat and penetrating oil without any results.

So my thinking is to spend a few bucks on getting the right tool, rather than use force or the wrong tool and break something much more expensive...

I managed to get the right tool at Spec Auto tools (www.specautotools.co.za).

For reference - the tool that fits a 416 is JTC-1319

Not cheap, but if I see how tight the ball joints were on my mog, I can't think of another way of getting them off without any damage.

Attached is a pic of what the tool looks like in the mog workshop manual
