Hi All, a friend of mine, residing in the Western Cape is considering buying a W163 ML55AMG ( the car is located in Limpopo) and asked some advice from me.
1. Reliability
2. Spares availability
3. Maintenance costs
4. Chance of getting the opportunity to drive one located closer to his home before making the final decision (he has never driven / driven in a W163)
My thoughts has been that they are generally reliable from what I can see online and maintenance is not inexpensive but should be more manageable than the W164's given that these do not have air suspension etc. (this after talking to 1 mechanic that has serviced a few - so yes not very informed I know...)
That said, I haven't owned one and would much appreciate advice from any members with experience on these.
Also if anyone owns a W163, is located in or around Cape Town and would be willing to consider allowing my friend to pop by for a chat and take him around the block to get a better idea of what a W163 feels like I'd be most grateful and would gladly reward such efforts with cold beverages when I am in the Cape around 18 Sept .
