Greetings all

We have a 2004 ML270CDi that has a small leak in the EGR valve joint. It seems to be worse once the engine is hot and when accelerating.

Firstly could that be causing the valve to not close properly and give rough idle and stall at low revs?

Secondly does anyone know where I can get a new one or can it be removed, cleaned and refitted? Dealers can only supply in 5-10 days and other suppliers don't carry the part. {part # A6121400065}

I did the EGR wiring mod which stopped it going into limp mode but now it has been stalling and hunting through the revs. I changed the MAF sensor, took off the EGR valve and cleaned it with carb cleaner {with the help of a mechanic] and have added turbo, DPF and EGR cleaner to the diesel.

Any advice or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards
Craig

Take that stuff off. Your vehicle will run better and more reliable. An exhaust shop will remove it, blank it off and drill out the dpf. Then you need to delete these from the system.

Thank you for the advice. I am trying to find the blanking plates or a kit to remove the egr completely but can only find on ebay or in the UK. Maybe a visit to an exhaust shop will be best but I do want to do as much as possible myself. Going to try take the first cat out and punch out the inside. I think it's blocked too.

Any places in Joburg that sell the kit or the plates to blank off the egr that you know if by any chance?

I had the EGR valve leak on the intake side (606) causing me to loose boost, I plugged it with Pratley Steel Putty.
It wasn't active or connected to the exhaust B.T.W.
