Hi to all you G owners
Ockie, Neels and I recently decided to pay Trevor Nicholas a visit down in the good old Durbs. The reason for our visit was to see what Gelandewagen parts he had and what was available. Well guys, have you ever seen a giant Gelandewagen scrap yard.
You become like a kid in a candy store you don’t know what to take.
Engines, Diffs 5:33, 4:99 ratios, body trimming, windows, interior parts, complete Geländewagen’s. You guys need to give old Trevor a call and see what he has and if he can assist you in anyway.

Hi Anthony thanks. I love my new G and looking forward to take it on holiday over December hopefully to either Moz or Kgalagadi.

I will post some pics soon but also very happy with the 230 motor. More power than what I expected.

Hi to all,
Spoke to Trevor this morning, the reason for not answering any calls some idiot has relieved him from his copper cables. He can be contacted on the cell phone.
I will be down in his part of the woods at the end of September. The misses is showing dogs if you need me to vet any parts just shout.

Not sure of the size, but I also lost a fuel cap between Kasane and Elephant Sands a few years back. I bought a R50 cap (lockable) apparently from a Golf which fits my G (290GD)

I suggest going to Autozone and see if they can help.

A proper Merc cap is going to set you back R800 not lockable and R 1500 for a lockable cap.

My 290 has a C class cap which fits nicely just not lockable - I have one spare.

Was quoted R825 for non lockable and R940 lockable few months back. R1200 + to match up with keys.

Thank you to the members who replied to my request.

I contacted a number of sources and in the end decided to buy a lockable cap from the local MB dealer (R1167-00 incl.). The effort required to get one from other sources for a few rands less is not worth it.

A bonafide 460 OM617A is a rarity, I am sure you will get plenty interested here.
I have a haynes manual for a W123 covering your engine, (beside one or two differences) which you are welcome to borrow.

Hi,

So now I have the vehicle back from Durban, but who can you recommend for mechanical- and body repairs in Cape Town? Although I didn't experience any major issues on the drive back from Durban to Cape Town, I did have enough time to know I need someone with a lot of knowledge and experience to get this G-wagen back to the perfect original condition.
