Hi
I am not sure if I must start a new thread?

Can somebody please advise on the minimum thickness of a W460 front brake discs?

Is there a non MB brake disk part available in the market?

12mm.

Have you asked the agents for a price? I replaced my discs on my 463 recently which was less than 1k for the pair. I think this is reasonable if they last 250k+ km.

There is an aftermarket Disc avaiable from Powerbrake. Do a search on this forum they havve been mentioned.
I have a set on my G but they are more expensive than th eoriginals. I bought a set of originals and had them on for about 5000km before they got some damage due to CV failure.
I would go with originals again as I don't really feel a difference although the aftermarket have ventilation holes and slots.

Some feedback:
The disks are R673 each at the MB agents, the brake pads are R1111 at the MB agents. However you can get Ferodo VF 1351 mentioned in another post (which might be the same sold by MB) at R960 a set from Midas.

The Powerbrake kit (2 Disks & a set of pads) is R 2780.

Hope someone finds this usefull.

This is great info.

51 bucks more for pads at mb doesn't seem too bad. At least you know they will fit.

Hi Munga
I understood from another post ("I still don't have a price for them but the OEM pads I got were also Ferodo") that you bought Ferodo's from MB?

Yes the ones I got from the agents had a ferodo and mb marking. Ferodo must make them for mb. I couldn't get a price from midas at the time so bought them from mb. Was surprised at the small price difference.

Doug has had experience with the power brake option.

Members I need to start searching for front brake pads for the proff.

I went through a search on the forum but maybe things have changed.

For older G's

Ferodo FVR 1351
Febi 16033

From MB - R1 897.5
Sensor R1000 each

Is the pads on the 460 and the 461 the same?

Can anyone give some advice please.

Much appreciated

Riaan

Hi Riaan,

Not sure for the Prof but the older 461 takes ATE pads from Rivonia Spares at around R700, including the sensor. The disks are cheapest from the agents- around R1500 for the two. Hopefully yours are as cheap and easy to get hold of.

I also thought that is too much, but what could I do? If you are a layman and have no idea about the prices all you can do is to pay.........

Some feedback:

I tried Auto Zone, Midas and Gold Wagen in Zeerust but nobody has the option for a Febi product just Safe Line.

Gold Wagen wants the part itself to search for a proper replacement don't know if I trust that so much.

Can't understand why they can't find the part on there system!!
