Just to revive this thread a bit. One of our AGOA members who had the Service Measure done a few months ago has now 'lost' piston 5 and is having his entire motor replaced. Here is the thread on the AGOA Forum
Weird "cylinder 5 came loose" As far as I know there are no cylinder sleeves so have no idea what the real problem is . Seems like the 350 reputation is approaching that of its predecessor ( 350GD Turbo Diesel )
Just to revive an old thread. We met a Bluetec owner last night who had his G booked in for an A/C problem. They called him back and said there is a recall issued on his G and they will be replacing the entire engine. Cost is R460K excluding labour. His G was in previously for the initial recall and they put in the larger sump.
Does anybody know if there has been a subsequent recall on the Bluetecs?
Lets face it. An internal combustion engine is a damn fool of a thing, but we have no alternative. Yet. And yes, that hole was designed for a 240 diesel, where you can see lots of road when you look past the engine.
All that heat and all the discussion about how to dump it rather than put it on the wheels, and still we put the radiator in front of the engine! I do not have an alternative see, but I think that in the future we will be amused by it, like we are amused by steam locomotives. I look forward to the day when I can put a jacuzzi in my engine bay because I have a digester on each wheel that runs on potato water.
