I decided to service my professional myself this time at 100 000 km. MB is far from me and it's always a problem to get parts in time.

So I search a bit and read a few articles and watch a few you-tube videos before attempting.

Attached is the photo's of the parts I found at Goldwagen locally.

The fuel filter that I was most worried about is the identical part that came out of the G which was serviced at MB till now. There is a huge price difference between MB and GW that I don't know the reason for. The GW fuel filter even came with the O-rings which didn't come in the box from MB.

The oil filter from GW looks different, I don't know if it will fit, This service I used parts from MB as I had them in stock.

I can't find the air filter from any other parts place - MB only at this stage.

I am going to change the fuel filter every 30 000 km MB booklet says every 60 000km??

I shall post the prices when I get the invoice.

Any suggestions or advice is welcome.

Regards

Riaan

Nice Riaan. You’ll probably do a much better job as well.

I think the various dealers suck up their own prices - I have no idea where they get the prices for the fuel filter there. I must admit that I do prefer using the original filters and filaments.

And the best is you have to pay for it first before they order anything they don't have in stock.
I am now waiting for spares ordered in late March with the promise it would be here in three weeks. Never heard anything from them until I again inquired what is happening.
So now the latest is that the spares will be here end of June. I have today told them I will not order anything unless they get it and I can collect and pay. Even if it means I have to order from overseas, I've had it. Arrogant is not the word. Sorry end of rant.

Vito, I share your view on the prices as well the using of original filters and filaments.
Will be using your Estimate when purchasing the next service parts from my MB stealer for the Prof if don't mind?

Absolutely fine with me Heinie. The dealers shouldn't be inventing their own prices, I just think they take chances. I purchase my parts from Mercedes Culemborg and they have been quite consistent in their pricing over the years.

Alan, change your dealership. I’ve never paid for anything before it was available at Cargo City.

Vito, I just want to check my fuel filter part nr from MB the price difference is too much.
Hey Riaan, I agree. That was what I first observed in your quote you had there. I can imagine if the filter was quoted complete with water and pressure sensor (the black sensor block screwed into the top), but on its own it certainly shouldn't have been so pricey. Sometimes the partsmen are not very clued up on service item specifics - I remember when I was servicing my gearbox I had to physically go to the partsman and graphically show on the WIS parts schedule the filters/gaskets/seals/dipstick needed.
