Hi Chris, I'm having intermittent loss of power that after 30 seconds disappeares, reading the article it sounds that the EGR could be the problem
To your question, if it will run cooler, to my opinion yes since it will be only fresh air to the turbo and not recicled air (if I understand correctly!) secondly you have a better consumption!
Apparently Heinie did something as well but not sure what

Ciao, amzimmy

Was that loss of power not the engine doing a self clean cycle on the cat or something?

Stu and Michel,

I did not do anything to the electronics/software. Took a fat chance.
It has been so now for a long time, had the red light on at some stage, not related to the modification though.
It is not running cooler though as I had hoped.
Had the temperature up to 115 degrees at stages, same as before, then the motor management reduces power to protect the system.

Hi Michel ..that sounds like torque converter issue?? Hope not though !!!!!!
Hi Tony, I went to Namibia and Botswana and back, the first stretch (900 km) the power went towards the end of the journey once, the day after nothing (400 km) then the third day in the first few km once and then nothing for the whole day. Coming back from Kang to JHB nothing all went well. The next day went to the airport and on the way back it did it again on the hi-way! The peculiar thing is that it is always for the same span of time 30 - 35"
Is that the torque converter? Was yours the same?

Nanne the previous owner had the issue which became progressively worse ... I bought the vehicle with this problem and then started the 'investigation' into possible solutions
i.e. from Gary Brown to Union motors to Guy le Meme etc etc
I also had the torque converter refurbished by Enduro Gearbox Centre … Dean but they found nothing wrong and the problem persisted .. they refunded me and I went to Grand Central motors and instructed them to order and replace the torque convertor as I was fed up with all the other advice etc
The part number was identified by the VIN number and verified with what was fitted in my G which were the same ... Grand Central also didn't want to do the job unless they changed the fuel filter which they did but as was expected did not solve the problem !! New one fitted and G going like a new one!!
I tried to get a warranty claim done but surprise . surprise .. Mercedes were not interested !!! They can't even tell me what was wrong with the original
It would appear that if one is not lucky at +- 80 - 95,000 km the torque convertor fails ''' plus minus R 50,000 to rectify ???

I had the same problem (30 sec loss, I obviously only notice this going uphill), I had to replace the torque converter.

I bought a 2010 ML350 CDI with all the off-road toys for off-roading about 2 years ago & I love it! CPU was remapped to about 210 kW & 650 NM. DO YOU RECOMMEND REMOVING THE CATS?
