Air Difflock Switch and plumbing

After several months of not being well enough to work on the Mog, I have for the last three weekends been happily crawling around under the Mog. Whilst getting to know the Mog, I noticed that the airline running from the rear diff towards the gearbox was loose and not connected.

I then started following similar airlines which lead from the 4wd selector/ Wabco directional valve and started to wonder if this was all set up correctly. So hence this post. I need to know where the rear airline needs to get plumbed in.

Am think I a missing a T-piece somewhere, but just not sure where it needs to get put in.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Attached is a picture with descriptions to aid win the advice giving. Also if someone has pictures of their setup for reference that would also help.

Regards and cheers for now

Hi Jayce

The selector switch has 3 settings: (1 ) 4x2, (2) 4x4, (3) 4x4 with difflocks (front and rear).

I would expect that the difflocks have one air line from the switch with a t-piece to split to the front/back. I'll have to check on my mog to confirm. Will let you know tomorrow.

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. I also figured that much, but wanted to double check what lines go into which port, as I think something is screwy.

If I was not mistaken, I think that when I went to position two on the selector, my line to the front axle to engage difflock vented, which makes me think the PO, got the lines mixed up.

The internet research that I have done was not categorical on this. What has happened though as a result of my research is that I am thinking of putting another valve in line to the front difflock, so that I have the option to disengage that if I want too. But I better get the original stuff working before I get ahead of myself.

Hi Jayce.

Many people put the rear difflock on a separate switch. That way you can choose to engage only rear diff lock (either in 4x2 or 4x4), but you can only engage front diff lock when in 4x4. A bit of a failsafe to avoid engaging front diff lock when in 4x2

Hi Jayce

Checked last night on my mog - one diff lock air line comes out of the switch into a t-piece which then goes to front and rear diffs.

Thanks for the trouble Paul. You did not maybe take note of which port that line came out of 22 or 21. My switch has these markings. I am assuming it is 22, if there is any logic to the numbers.

At least I know there is a T-piece missing in my setup.

No, didn't look at the switch itself. Access is obscured by my fueltank/airtank/crawl through to camper, so its a bit of a challenge seeing details on the switch itself

Thanks Paul. Don't expect you to take that all apart. Would you mind sending me some pics of your camper and crawl through. I am getting to that point with mine now as well, and I like to see what others have done.
Once again thanks for the help.

Well I got the piping all sorted out. But was losing air pressure on the diff causing me to lose 4x4 as well. Following some advice on another forum, I started to remove the vent tubes to check for obstructions and clear them out only to have the following happen to me, when I tried to undo the last vent tube on top of the axle.

So any bright ideas on how I am going to get that out. :?: There is not enough space between the shock mounting and axle, to get much in there?

Shucks - space is already limited enough in there to make any work on that breather a pain!

How well does the spring mounting bolt line up with the breather? Perhaps by removing the spring mounting bolt you can reach the breather by inserting a long tool through the bolt hole?
