Not sure if its unique, but the VDO specialists in Germiston do repair and refurbish without you having to donate any body parts

Yes. Dirk took my speedo unit in so I don't have their number but it was less than R800 to refurbish in 2011 and its run smoothly ever since.

Next I need to redo my fuel sender unit.....

What is wrong? I had mine repaired in CT for a few hundred rand.

Hi Doug,


It died, I opened it and managed to solder the wire back in place, but now it only goes to half (on the gauge), so I'm not sure but I think the solder changed the resistance, I'm not electronically minded. The reserve light works perfectly though.

I took mine to a Control Instruments I seem to recall they were in Montague Gardens many years ago not sure where they are now also try Cape Instrument Services in Paarden Island
